Mikayla Pascual is a PhD student and Blue Sky Graduate Fellow at UTIG. Her research interests stem from a background in numerical modeling of Greenland outlet glaciers and studying the processes that control how they change. Currently, her work focuses on modeling and understanding the effect of seasonal forcings and sedimentation within outlet glaciers. Mikayla recently received her BA in Geology at Middlebury College. There she worked with Dr. Lizz Ultee and produced an undergraduate thesis on simulating glacier change over time-variable topography. She entered the glaciology community as an NSF Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) researcher in the Georgia Tech Ice & Climate Group studying ensemble simulations of glacier retreat over randomly generated self-similar subglacial topography. At UT, she hopes to combine her research interests to improve the nuanced processes associated with outlet glacier modeling.
